Getting your first timecode out
From installation to a console following the DJ, with no detour.
- 01Plug in and check the decks appearOne cable between the machine and the booth switch. Switch to the Grid view (F5): the decks must show up with their waveforms. If nothing appears, the Windows firewall is the first suspect.
- 02Arm a slot on "the master"Timecode view (F1), first slot, source "the master". The output will follow the DJ automatically when they hand over from one deck to another.
- 03Pick the receiver’s frame rate25 frames per second in Europe, 29.97 in NTSC territory. Take the one the console expects, not the one in the video file.
- 04Pick the outputLTC on a sound card output: name the device, the channel, and set the level. It is audio, it cables like a line.
- 05Check on the receiverThe console must show a timecode that advances. Pitch the deck: the timecode must speed up with it. That is the proof the chain is good end to end.
- 06Stop the deck to see the freezePause the source deck. The counter must freeze and show its reason. That is the expected behaviour: it never switches on its own.
